Windsor Croquet Club is one of the largest of 13 croquet clubs in Brisbane with around 50 members.
We are a friendly club and, though we have more than our share of top national and international players, we have many players who play croquet less seriously.
Visiting and new players are always welcome. We have occasional Come and Try days but enquiries are welcome at any time. We run courses, generally on request, for beginners.
As well as regular club social play days, the club and members take part in Pennants and other competitions. The club conducts an annual open competition, the Windsor Cup.
Activities
The main competitive game played at Windsor is Association Croquet.
Association Croquet social play days are Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Names have to be in by 12:00 noon and play is from 12:30 to 3:30. Most of us have lunch in the clubhouse beforehand and afternoon tea afterwards.
Golf Croquet is played on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon.
Other croquet games occasionally played include Ricochet, Gateball and the introductory game, Aussie Croquet.
Members can play at any time that the courts are not otherwise in use or undergoing maintainance.
Green fees are $5.00 per day for visitors.
Cards and Mahjong are played on the third Monday of each month from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Cost is $7.00 which includes lunch.
A beginners course of 6 one hour lessons on Association Croquet costs $60 which includes an introductory booklet and one month's membership from the completion of the course. Lessons are at times by arrangement, usually on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, and need not be regularly spaced.
Private events may be arranged for groups. No previous experience is expected. Our normal charges, which will be advised on request, include one or two fun introductory games and a minimal morning or afternoon tea. Any additional requirements would need to be arranged by the visiting group. There are no bar facilities. Finding Us
We are situated on the corner of Blackmore and Lane Streets, Windsor, 400 metres SW of Albion Station.
Coming by car from the City via Lutwyche Rd and Albion Rd use Peter St as there is no right turn from Albion Rd into Lane St. Croquet players may park behind the Bowls Club.
Coming by train use Albion railway station, not Windsor.
