The club’s aim is to provide a warm and friendly atmosphere to members and visitors and aid as a positive influence on their physical and mental activity and well-being.

The disciplines of Association Croquet and Golf Croquet are played and all are enjoyed on the three lawns which are surrounded by various flowering bougainvillea, Ipswich’s floral emblem, with magnificent centuries-old shade trees providing welcoming cooling afternoon breezes. The 1930s built clubhouse stands proudly today with most of its original features intact. It is regularly hired by various groups and private parties and is often used in photo sessions because of its quaintness in architecture and stunning garden backdrops.

In addition to regular social and competitive games for members. The club welcomes the opportunity to provide “Fun Days” for groups with members available to provide assistance on playing the game. The hire includes full use of the greens and equipment and bookings may be made by contacting the Hall Hire Officer or Club Secretary.

New players are always welcome and are offered the opportunity to receive instruction and practice before deciding if they wish to join the club. The playing fee includes all equipment. Flat-soled enclosed sports shoes to be worn.

The club has recently formed a “twin club” association with the Ipswich Croquet Club in England which began at Portman Marshes in 1908. Over time, the English club has produced many strong players including a World Champion and others who have reached international selection. Its Club Secretary, Martin French, is Secretary-General of the World Croquet Federation until 2014.
