Golf Croquet Coaching

Qualification of Coaches in Golf Croquet

(Page revised 21 Feb 2012)

Golf Croquet Coach Qualification Program

Revised qualification programs for Golf Croquet (GC) Coaches were implemented on 25 Jun 2011 and reference manuals for previous programs are no longer available.

The new programs are

A Level “O”, or Orientation Program For Golf Croquet Coaches.

A Level 1 Program for Golf Croquet Coaches.

Coaches who qualify under the new programs will receive badges and certificates recognizing their achievement.  Qualification details will be recorded, in the case of Queensland players, in the CAQ Coach Database. In order to retain recognition of their qualification, Coaches are  required to periodically submit evidence of coaching activity and attendance at update workshops,.  There is no intention, at this time to seek accreditation of the GC Coach qualifications under the National Coach Accreditation System (NCAS).

Implementation

A number of  Coaches have already qualified under the new programs  and  the aim is at least one Level 1 GC Coach and several Level “O” in each in each club where Golf Croquet played.

Those  players qualified under previous programs are deemed to have qualified in accordance with the new programs. They were awarded the Association Croquet (AC) style badges, because there was no specific GC Coach badge.  As these Coaches complete an update workshop, they will be invited to trade their AC badge for a GC badge.  Should they wish to retain the right, additionally to wear the AC badge, they will be assessed on their ability to teach the AC specific elements of the AC Beginner Coach Program.

The fact that players were incorrectly awarded AC badges is a matter of history and the action outlined above is being taken to ensure that  coaches are correctly recognised only for the sports in which they are qualified.

Clubs and Regional Coaching Coordinators are encouraged to identify players who have the characteristics and desire required to become Golf Croquet Coaches.
