ACA Scholarship Winner

24 October 2019

It has been announced that Ethan Chilton, aged 14, from Southport Croquet Club has been awarded an ACA Scholarship.

At the beginning of the year the Australian Croquet Association announced there were scholarships available for all croquet players. With the assistance of Terry Ericson, Australian Croquet  Under 21 Coordinator,  Ethan’s Mother prepared documents and applied for a Scholarship. The plan was for obtaining assistance for Ethan to attend the Australian Gateball Championship that will be held in Melbourne 28th November – 1st December, 2019. Now that the Scholarship has been awarded, Ethan will be able to focus on attending that National Event because his school  exams will be concluded. His Mother and Grandfather also play Gateball for Southport CC and will participate in the Nationals- but not all in the same team! It makes for good family rivalry.

Ethan is a student of Varsity Lakes College. He has been a member of Southport Croquet Club for just over two years. In that time he has impressed everyone with his polite manners  and his friendly personality. His expertise in several forms of Croquet has improved rapidly. Ethan has been encouraged to explore all the codes of croquet and seek enjoyment in participation.  Competing when possible during school holidays and at weekends, Ethan has had many good wins in Gateball, Ricochet and Golf Croquet competitions.  He has brought his Ricochet handicap down to 8 and his Golf Croquet handicap down to 5.
