On 7th May 1902, the Ipswich Croquet Club was formed with a membership of fifty women, when the mayor of the day granted the ladies a parcel of land large enough for one court.
Today members enjoy playing on three professionally maintained lawns, enjoying cooling afternoon breezes provided by magnificent centuries-old shade trees. The perimeter of the Council-leased property is very picturesque with flowering bougainvillea, Ipswich’s floral emblem and other flowering native plants interspersed with lavender.
