Murray Tinker (Caloundra) (Headland-Buderim) (Captain)
Chosen twice to represent Queensland and once as a reserve, Murray is very proud to captain the 2018 team Murray moved to Qld from NZ, and then from McIlwraith late last year and has enjoyed playing GC since 2008. Murray has recently retired as a board member for Croquet Australia but continues to assist with their marketing. He is the current Australian Men’s Singles Champion and will inspire the Queensland team to do great things. Go Queensland!
Ross Rillie (Headland-Buderim)
A Headland-Buderim club member since 2012, Ross is a GC coach, referee and captain of the pennant and shield teams. Playing highlights are winning the ACA National handicap singles three times, CAQ Gold Medal 2018 and being selected to play for Queensland. Ross likes the social & competitive aspects of golf croquet.
Geoff Hull (Wynnum)
Geoff has been playing GC for just on 5 years. He has held the position of Club Captain is currently VP of the Club Management Committee, served a term as CAQ Director of Golf Croquet, and has referee accreditation along with coaching qualifications in both Golf Croquet and Ricochet. Over the last four years Geoff has competed strongly at both CAQ and ACA level. He thanks fellow GC competitors, both State and Interstate, who have been unselfish with their guidance and advice.
Ron Schodel (Wynnum)
Ron has always been an enthusiastic sport participant and in 2005 succumbed to persistence from his brother to try golf croquet. This resulted in membership of the Coolangatta club and his transfer to the Wynnum Club in 2007. Ron represented Queensland in the State Golf Croquet Team in 2009 and 2010.
Bob Martin (Eildon) (Manager) (Reserve)
Bob started playing GC in 2014 and then Ricochet the following year. He has played in the Eildon pennant team, regional events and CAQ events over the last two years. More recently he played in the Australian Men's Singles Championship and the Australian Open Singles Championship where both times he played through to the championship rounds. He enjoys the challenge, competition and social aspect of croquet.
Dennis Green (Bribie Island) (Reserve)
Dennis discovered croquet in 2011 and soon embraced the competition, finding that the sport brings together some wonderful people. He has entered various competitions around the country with his most recent major success being the winning of the Plate in the CAQ Open. He says he feels honoured to be part of the Queensland Team.
Helen Rillie (Headland-Buderim) (Vice-Captain)
A Headland-Buderim club member since 2012, Helen is a GC Coach, committee member and has been the Golf Captain. Playing highlights are winning CAQ Women’s Singles 2017- 2018, CAQ Div 2 Bronze Medal winner 2016 and playing ACA Singles & Doubles since 2016. Helen has previously been a state player and reserve. She says that croquet has provided friendship, competition and healthy physical outdoor exercise.
Geraldine Trivett (Stephens)
Geraldine has been playing Golf Croquet and Association Croquet for a number of years and has been associated with the GC Team as a player, reserve and manager at various times. Geraldine considers herself lucky to have competed in Egypt. She plays at Stephens where she is the Treasurer and also enjoys membership at Graceville.
Beryl Turner (Southport)
Beryl started playing Gateball in 2010 and has since played in World and Asian Gateball Championships in China and socially in Japan. Beryl stated playing GC in 2014 and is the Club Captain at Southport. She has been a winner in Regional Doubles events, Qld Mixed Doubles 2018 and runner-up in the Qld Women's Singles 2018. Beryl admits to loving the game and being croquet tragic.
Nuran Melksham (McIlwraith)
Nuran started playing in 2011. Since 2013, she has played in every major CAQ Golf Croquet event. Last year she also played in other state competitions and in the Australian National Women’s Singles but she says the real highlight is the great honour of being picked to represent Queensland in the 2018 Interstate Shield.
Cynthia Tacey (Windsor) (Reserve)
Cynthia began playing at Windsor in 1996 — she enjoyed it so much she became very involved in the Club, taking on positons of Secretary, President and Vice-President at various times. She also spent about seven years as the CAQ secretary. She is a coach and a referee. Cynthia has been selected for both Association and Golf Croquet teams at various times.
Megan Stuart (Eildon) (Reserve)
Megan joined Eildon Croquet Club at Woody Point in 2014 and this year is the club Golf Captain. After a few years she played pennants and some regional events and this year began playing competitively in CAQ Women’s singles and mixed events and ACA Open Singles at Cairnlea. Megan says she was surprised and thrilled to be a part of the training squad and then 2nd reserve of the Qld team.
