Bribie is a very friendly club of 60+ members who live anywhere between Deception Bay; Caboolture. Beachmere, Ningi, Sandstone Point and of course on Bribie Island.  Visitors to the area are always welcome to come and play a game or two with us.

The Club is located in Cosmos Park, one of the many green spaces on the Island. It shares – each with separate areas - its clubhouse and its car park with the Bribie Island Tennis Club. The club has five lawns and players are well serviced with various amenities, including a number of shade shelters around the lawns.

It has a proud history. Formed in 1984 by Mary Masters, Albina Toth & a small and dedicated group of players, who would travel many kilometres to play a game of croquet. The official opening of the club happened on 10th July 1992. Initially, Club facilities at Cosmos Park were non-existent – no club house, no toilet block, no storage for equipment. This did not inhibit the drive and passion of our early club members.

In those early days both Mary Masters & Albina Toth were very competitive players in this sport and toured many areas of Australia to play croquet. This gave both ladies a vision of what the Bribie Island Croquet Club should be – a friendly, vibrant and progressive club – an image that still abounds within the croquet world today. Whilst on their travels these ladies took the opportunity to praise the Island lifestyle and help foster ‘come & holiday on Bribie & play croquet’, which our members still espouse today.

The club offers all members a variety of ways to enjoy playing croquet. These range from general club playing days, to interclub gala days, to highly competitive tournaments which attract top Australian Players. Current and past members have played in the Queensland State Teams for Association & Golf Croquet. Our members are also involved in coaching and refereeing at a National and State level.

It also provides a number of annual tournaments, including the very popular Island Challenge Tournament, plus the Mary Masters, Steve Jones Trophy, the Caboolture Sports Club Trophy and PFC Hoop Maker Mallet Event.

Coaching players in the various croquet disciplines is a strong part of the club's ethos.  All new players will receive coaching by one of our ACA qualified coaches.  One is never TOO YOUNG to learn to play croquet!

At a local level BICC’s ethos of ‘giving back to the community’ involves:

  • Coaching U3A members in Croquet
  • Introducing Gateball to Banksia Beach State School Pupils
  • Raising money for local organisations BI Dragons Abreast, Alzheimer’s Support Group, BI & District Neighbourhood Centre
  • Raising money for national organisations Red Cross, Qld Cancer Council
  • Club house facilities & coaches are available for other community groups for their fund-raising endeavours — Probus, View Club, local church groups.
  • Moreton Bay Council’s Healthy & Active program
