ACA Chief Executive Officer announced

The Board of Croquet Australia (CA) is pleased to announce respected sports executive, Melanie Woosnam has been appointed as its first-ever Chief Executive Officer.

As the former President of Hockey Australia and CEO of Water Polo Queensland, Melanie brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills to this role having held executive roles with Hockey NSW, Queensland Touch Football and Futsal NSW as well as governance roles as a former Director with Stadiums Queensland and QSport. She is also a former Hockeyroo and has a sound understanding of participation, pathway and development programs and elite level competitions.

CA President Jim Nicholls welcomed Melanie to the role, "The Board are excited to appoint our inaugural CEO and are thrilled to have someone of Melanie's calibre and experience to lead, grow and evolve CA as an important National Sporting Organisation. Melanie is a capable, innovative and collaborative leader and is keen to get around and meet the many volunteers and members who are the backbone of our sport.

With approximately 10 000 members across 6 States and 240 Clubs and a strong and passionate volunteer workforce, we feel the time is right for a CEO to lead and inspire our members and key stakeholders, set a new strategic vision, build our IT capability and embark on a rebranding process to build the sport's profile and facilitate continued growth and development of our people and malletsports across Australia," he said.

As the new CEO Melanie said "I am delighted to be appointed as the inaugural CEO of CA and believe I can add value to the organisation and its people as CA embarks on an exciting period in its evolution. As a consultant I have previously worked with croquet and I am excited by the opportunities presented by a new structure and look forward to working closely and collaborating with the Board, State Associations, Volunteers and members to set in place a management framework that will ensure the sustainability, viability and growth of the sport well into the future.

Melanie will commence in the role on Tuesday 3rd January, 2023 and will be based in Brisbane.
