CAQ received grant funds through the Queensland State Government Active Women and Girls (AWAG) Program that were used to create & organise a state-wide campaign designed to encourage women & girls to “get active” with the sport of croquet. Project consisted of 2 main elements
- a centrally-managed "Croquet & High Tea" event
- the purchase of croquet equipment - mallets - specifically chosen to overcome barriers that may be encountered by women when participating in the sport; mallets to be distributed to clubs through applications that address how they will use them to attract & retain new female members
Using grant funds, CAQ has purchased 30 Terminator Horus, and 10 PFC Standard mallets. CAQ gratefully acknowledges the substantial sponsorship provided by Lindsay David (Star Mallets) and Peter Coles (PFC Mallets). Primarily lighter-weight mallets (under 3lbs), there are both wooden (Terminator Horus) and metal composite (PFC Standard) mallets on offer. The handle length varies from 34" - 39".
Clubs are now invited to submit an application for mallets through this program, which specifically supports women’s participation in croquet across Queensland.
Your responses should be specific to your own circumstances. Dot points are welcomed.
CAQ will be following up, post-project, to seek feedback from participating clubs, and discover how their initiatives are progressing.
